24® Game

24® Game

24® Game • PCODE 12 • ID 23

The 24® Game is a maths card puzzle game. Players compete to solve puzzles with 4 numbers which must be combined to make 24.

Now available directly from Tarquin.

The 24® Game is our most popular card game with schools. The standard sets - the Single and Double Digit cards are available as either 48 cards in a pack or 96 cards in a sturdy box. All other sets are available in 96 card boxes only. The cards are large (approx 10cm square) and very high quality.

This maths game is very easy to start as there is always only one rule: use all 4 numbers with any operation (add, subtract, multiply, divide) to make 24. There are a wide range of sets to cater for increasing levels of difficulty:

  • Single digits then double digits
  • Fractions / Decomals - One of the numbers is a fraction or a decimal
  • Integers - Some or all of the numbers are negative
  • Algebra / Exponents - One of the numbers is shown as an algebraic expression!

The game can be played in many different ways, but conventionally the cards are placed face up on the table. All players compete for the top card. The first to solve the card claims it and play moves on to the next card. However, the game can be played collaboratively as well. As players’ experience increases they get quicker and better at sorting the numbers and finding combinations of them which can build up to 24. The game does much more than practice the ‘four rules’. Instead it emphasises the all important thinking time, when players quickly test the options, developing key problem solving skills.

Cards have three levels of difficulty:

    1 Dot = easy
    2 Dot = medium
    3 Dot = tough

Age: 6+ (add and subtract primer pack)
Age 9+ (other packs)

Have a look at the individual packs for more detail about suggested age range and levels of challenge.
